BABY ELEPHANTS

Oil on canvas, 122 × 122 cm

Floating oak frame, framed size 125 × 125 cm

‘Baby Elephants’ is inspired by patterns in the rocks near Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. Emerging from close observation of rock and stone, this painting explores the landscape as a surface written by time. Pale blue passages suggest light, atmosphere and distance, while intricate networks of line and colour trace patterns of fracture, growth and transformation. Hovering between geology and imagination, the work moves beyond description to evoke the experience of place itself. Through abstraction, the painting reveals a landscape in continual flux, shaped by forces both ancient and ongoing.
