Patrick Pearson is a self-taught visual artist based in Aldinga Beach in Kaurna Country. He paints beguiling abstracts inspired by the colours and markings of trees, as well as thickly textured landscapes and seascapes. Patrick’s artworks explore themes of loss, memory and healing, partly fuelled by his 2009 survival of a large brain tumour. Hidden within his textures, lines and colours are subtly embedded endangered animals and human forms, so that his art speaks of a world we're forgetting, like the songs of blue whales. His works call us to protect what's vanishing and to rediscover the beauty of our natural world.
In 2019 and 2020, Patrick had his paintings exhibited in Wellington Gallery in Sydney. Since then his work has been in both solo and group exhibitions in South Australia, which he has called home since March 2020.
His abstract works are represented in SA by Ex Animo Art Gallery in Adelaide, and his landscapes and seascapes are available through Artworx Gallery in Goolwa or by direct contact with Patrick. See something of his artistic process on Instagram.
